I never heard about Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (SSLYBY) until my quest for non-mainstream yet really cool acts around two years ago. I visited blogs, read forums, and joined music sites--a time-consuming yet fulfilling endeavour which led to my encounter with them. When I first learned about their band name, the first thing that came to my mind was, "Who is Boris Yeltsin?" Of course, thanks to Wikipedia, now I know that the guy was the first president serving the Russian Federation in 1991-1999. The addition of the politician's name sure made SSLYBY's name interesting and unique.
In 2005, the band first released its first album in the United States. Recorded in the band's room and attic, Broom was able to obtain positive reviews from renowned music magazines and personalities. Here's the video of Pangea, one of the songs included in the album.

In 2008, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin released another album. I believe that this time, the group grew so much after the introduction of their first CD. Pershing, which was named after John J. Pershing Middle School (Springfield, Missouri), is specially dedicated to Alex Bethurem, SSLYBY's lifelong friend who took his own life.
