I promise myself that I am going to feature one indie song every week to let the rest of the world know that there are plenty of highly talented people out there who make beautiful music that are worthy of our attention. Unfortunately, indie bands do not have sufficient money to fund their album production, concerts, and the like.
So to help them gain a wider fan base, here I am, trying to make the world aware of their existence.
Ladies and gentlemen, here's Modest Mouse with Float On. The song, released on February 14, 2004, is considered to be the signature song of the band. When asked about the song, Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse's vocalist) said,
"It was a completely conscious thing. I was just kind of fed up with how bad shit had been going, and how dark everything was, with bad news coming from everywhere. Our president is just a fucking daily dose of bad news! Then you've got the well-intentioned scientists telling us that everything is fucked. I just want to feel good for a day."
